Council District 14: Councilman-elect Fernando Cabrera plans to open his district office on E. Burnside Avenue between Morris and Creston avenues in January. Cabrera, who bested 14th Council District incumbent Maria Baez in September’s Democratic primary, is a mere “signature away” from a lease for a second-floor office above the T-Mobile store at 01-103 E. Burnside, he said.

Council District 14: Sedgwick Avenue resident Greg Faulkner has proven to be an outspoken leader as chair of Community Board 7 since 2004. So imagine what influence the energetic Faulkner will wield in January, when he steps down as a CB7 volunteer to become cheif of staff for Councilman-elect Fernando Cabrera, the 14th Council District Democrat said.

Council District 14: It’s official. On Thursday, September 24, the Board of Elections certified Fernando Cabrera as the winner of the 14th Council District Democratic primary election. Cabrera beat out incumbent Maria Baez and will appear as the Democratic candidate on the general election ballot in November.

Council District 16: Bye bye Baez. Fernando Cabrera upset 14th Council District incumbent Maria Baez in the Democratic primary on Tuesday, September 15, or so it appeared as of 11 p.m. at Maestro’s Caterers on Bronxdale Avenue, where Cabrera addressed an excited crowd.

Baez’ latest endeavor, the Bronx Family Justice Center on E. 161st Street, is scheduled to open in October. The 14th Council District incumbent is proud of her two terms on the City Council. So proud Baez is set on another four years.
