Council District 16: Bye bye Baez. Fernando Cabrera upset 14th Council District incumbent Maria Baez in the Democratic primary on Tuesday, September 15, or so it appeared as of 11 p.m. at Maestro’s Caterers on Bronxdale Avenue, where Cabrera addressed an excited crowd.

Council District 11: There are 101 reasons to re-elect 11th Council District incumbent Oliver Koppell, shouts a campaign brochure. The two-term councilman funded a new playground at P.S. 81 on Riverdale Avenue. He had a traffic light installed at Bainbridge Avenue and East Gun Hill Road. He sponsored St. Stephen’s Meals at the Lutheran Church of the Epiphany in Norwood.

Council District 11: Tony Perez Cassino sleeps in Riverdale. But the 11th Council District candidate is headed east. Cassino recently opened a campaign office on Gun Hill Road. He plans to woo, then represent, the residents of Norwood, Wakefield, Woodlawn and Bedford Park.

Council District 18: Annabel Palma is safe - unopposed by any Democrat in her bid for re-election to the City Council. The Parkchester pol will stroll to victory in the 18th Council District primary on September 15. Not all her fellow incumbents are so lucky, however.
