Council District 11: There are 101 reasons to re-elect 11th Council District incumbent Oliver Koppell, shouts a campaign brochure. The two-term councilman funded a new playground at P.S. 81 on Riverdale Avenue. He had a traffic light installed at Bainbridge Avenue and East Gun Hill Road. He sponsored St. Stephen’s Meals at the Lutheran Church of the Epiphany in Norwood.

Although the 14th Council District incumbent has lost the support of the Bronx County Democratic Party, Baez is a legend of sorts in Mount Hope and Morris Heights.

Council District 16: City Council pugilists Mark Escoffery-Bey and Jose A. Padilla Jr. are down for the count. Bronx County Democratic Party lawyer Stanley Schlein KO’ed Escoffery-Bey, the 16th Council District candidate said. Schlein had Padilla pulverized, the 15th Council District candidate reported.
